Well, to be honest; howadays being an educator is not as easy as before. Simply due to the reasons that students' qualities themselves before being enrolled to any of the colleges or universities are so much lower than the expectations. All these problems will be a challenge for the lecturers or professors to drive them with bringing them them to the fundamental again in order for the lecturers being able to transfering the initial relevant knowledges. Secondly, in the private colleges and university colleges, are so much more competative and stress compare to the local universities after the ministry of higher education has made the decision in implementing the ranking of the private colleges and university colleges near future. Where all those institutions are hope not to be fall at the buttom few, the management will be pushing the KPI of the academic staffs in their university which is not only the basic requirements of "a good teacher". But including the contributions, consultations, projects involvement of the academicians to the relevant industry and of course PUBLICATION is the main concerned.

In private universities in this country, the life of the lecturers might not be as good as the counterparts in the public university. Although job security is still there, depending on university, sometimes life can be quite hectic and work-life balance might not be a luxury particularly for those junior and without a doctorate.

If a lecturer wants to become a professor by conducting high quality research and publishing in world-class academic journals, then you can trust me that s/he needs to work on weekends in addition to working at night.
I have friends who are happy to maintain their status quo by being lecturers and are not even interested to do a PhD (Lack of ambition or probably sheer laziness).
But in the end, we deserve what we get.
Yes, there are people at the top who love power but are just dumb idiots (quite evident when they open their mouth and unable to make an intellectual comment).

Being a lecturer in Univeristy confirmed is an easy life. Your risk is must lower. On top of that, your time is very flexible. The site income opportunity is much more. Got 1 point of the time, I wish to work as lecturer too but I scare I can't control myself to scold the students. :P

Anyway, lecturer is one of the top respected job in Malaysia. I guess the rating is higher than Police :P
